A 1st Birthday Cake Smash made perfect by the addition of portraits with Mom & Dad! This sweet birthday boy is so vibrant and on the go, I loved every moment of working with him, and can’t wait to share more. This particular session is my Luxe First Birthday package, and Mom and Dad wanted to celebrate their little one by getting in front of the camera with their sweet birthday boy. I love it when parents, siblings, grandparents, or even aunts and uncles are excited about sharing the moment. Mom and Dad came dressed for the moment, but there was no mistaking the amount of joy on their faces for their little boy turning the big “one”!

1st Birthday Cake Smash

My sweet birthday boy was such a busy little bee! He was very on the go, and I knew instantly that it would make for a great session. He was ready to embrace the moment and each setup during his shoot. For his 1st birthday cake smash setup, it was anchors away and all hands on deck for an ahoy ye matey sailor theme! To bring the scene to life, I included buoys, anchors, seashells, a lighthouse, and plenty of red white, and blue!

I always make sure the coinciding cake (you gotta have the cake for the cake smash, right?!) matches the theme perfectly. In this case, I went with a sea-blue cake with tiny little buoys all around the cake for the captain of the ship! And because I know my parents typically have their hands full, I pick up the cake and bring it to the studio for the session, for a stress-free experience.

My adventurous and vibrant birthday boy was so ready for his cake. He went all in, practically on cue! With fingers, toes, and a messy mouth, this sweet boy acted like he knew exactly what to do. We had a perfect mess for his amazingly unforgettable 1st birthday cake smash. During his cake smash, he wore the tiniest little blue jeans overalls. Adorable and excellent paired with the colors in his theme! Once you get dirty and full of cake, there is only one thing left to do. It was time for a “soak” in my tiny tot tub. With plenty of rubber ducky pals and bubbles everywhere, this adorable little birthday boy gave me the biggest smile ever for his final moment in front of the camera!
