Toddler Portrait Photography Seattle | A 3rd Birthday Celebration!

I am so often asked if I provide toddler portrait photography in my Seattle studio, and the answer is a resounding yes! My parents always want to know if I photograph the ‘big kids’ and it made me realize, that I should talk about them a little bit more, here on the blog. After all, a first birthday celebration is such a fun and important milestone, but so are all the rest! So today, we are celebrating Aria’s 3rd birthday.

Isn’t it so amazing to watch littles transition from the tender first year to the big kid years?! The toddler years are just as amazing as the first year! So, the very first birthday celebration is behind you. But there are so many other firsts to celebrate. The first time they pick up a crayon to draw a masterpiece. Or the first time they string together a few of their favorite words. Or maybe it’s the first time they take off running while giggling because they did something so lighthearted and funny that you can’t help but add it to your core memories.

The toddler years, while admittedly challenging at times, are some of the most exploratory and adventurous years of childhood. They are worthy of celebrating that vibrant personality that begins to shine through from your sweet child.

Sweet little Aria is three, and her Mom wanted to celebrate with a whimsical toddler portrait session in my Seattle photography studio. This little girl is so full of life. She danced, laughed, twirled, and smiled the entire time. I started Aria’s session the same way I do for my other birthday boys and girls. With a set of classic portraits to make sure she was comfortable in front of the camera.

Her loving mommy dressed her in the cutest little white patent leather Mary Jane’s and a pleated floral dress. Her spring-inspired outfit was just so sweet and it was even topped with a big girl bracelet! For her classic portraits, I pulled out my tot-sized chaise lounge to give Aria her moment in the sun. I have to admit, the chaise was a good choice because she absolutely loved lounging in it!

Next, Aria got the full birthday treatment with a toddler-sized cake made just for her. Not only that but we used a whimsical setup fit for a princess with a beaded curtain, plenty of flowers, a lantern, and a crystal chandelier. And of course, the color palette was completely pink and gold, just for Aria.

Aria’s mom also decided to add on a custom-curated background to Aria’s session. I add these special images to a session when request by a client and they are one of a kind! In fact, once the background is created, it is retired, so the images that Aria’s family received in celebration of her 3rd birthday are hers and hers alone. For these photos, Aria wore the cutest pink tulle dress and we posed her beside a window in a flower-covered room.
