As a Seattle First Birthday Photographer, I loved baby Kallan’s cake smash photoshoot. This little sweetie was not afraid to go all in when his birthday cake came out!

We started Kallan’s session with a few classic portraits and he had the cutest poses and the biggest smiles! He absolutely loved being in front of the camera. He was such a joyful little guy. It was beyond adorable to see his playful personality come out! His mama dressed him in the cutest little button-down shirt, complete with a tiny bowtie and a pair of khaki shorts. What a sweetheart!

Ok, the theme of Kallan’s first birthday shoot kind of has a special place in my heart. When his parents contacted me for his Petite Session, they expressed wanting to create a dinosaur theme for his cake smash setup. Being a huge Jurassic Park fan myself, I was beyond excited to make this setup come to life for this special moment of Kallan’s first birthday! Of, course, I found a way to make his dinosaur set up a little more friendly and inviting than Jurassic Park. There was a  happy colorful stegosaurus, a playful T-rex, a smiling brachiosaur, and a Pterodactyl zipping through the air over the jungle! 

I accented his setup with some twinkle lights, but the real star of the show was Kallan and his birthday cake. The birthday boy was not afraid to dig in! And instead of wasting time by grabbing the cake with his hands, he went right in for a direct bite! I absolutely adored his approach because not many babies will do this. When it was all said and done, the cake didn’t stand a chance. Kallan enjoyed every last drop. Scroll through the photos below to see every single moment of this sweet cake smash session!
