Portland Newborn Photoshoot | NICU Graduation

This sweet little bundled newborn came to visit me on her second day home from the NICU!

Her mama scheduled a Dolce Newborn Session with me before baby was released from the NICU. We didn’t have an exact time frame for when baby would get the green light to go home. But I talked with mama and we both promised to make the session happen. The very second the family got the official ok for baby to be released, we did exactly that!

Born early at just 26 weeks, this sweet girl was a micro-preemie. It felt like such a momentous occasion to have her in the Fairies and Frogs studio. As their Portland Newborn photographer, I was both honored & humbled to capture the moment. A big part of baby’s life that led to her NICU graduation, has been her feeding tube. To honor that, mom and I decided to leave in the baby’s feeding tube for a few of the photos. Mom removed it later for some of the additional poses that she picked out as part of her package.

As part of the Dolce Newborn Session, mom got to choose from 6 setups or poses. We created a few “filled-to-the-brim with love” poses with mom, dad, and baby together. Grandma even came into the studio to capture a three-generations portrait, which you’ll get to see below! You can easily feel the amount of love this sweet baby girl has in her life with her beautiful family by her side.

For baby’s poses mom chose lots of florals, soft rich tones, and different setups that put baby center stage. We started with a very traditional pose. A wicker basket stuffed with a super soft fluffy blanket and baby laying right on top. From there we moved her into two different floral arrangements. One of the floral setups was in the shape of a heart, aww!! We gently placed baby right in the center to grab the shot! Mom also chose a moon setup where this sweet girl wore a teeny tiny tiara and slumbered away among the stars!
