There is something incredibly special about welcoming families back into my studio. Especially when it’s to capture a brand new chapter in their story. This beautiful Olympia newborn photography session was extra meaningful. I first met this sweet family two years ago when their daughter came in as a newborn. Now, she returned as a proud big sister to her brand new baby brother. It was truly such a joy to witness.

From the moment they walked into my studio in Olympia, Washington, there was already so much love surrounding this little boy. His big sister, now two years old, brought such a gentle curiosity and sweetness to the session. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to include a toddler in a newborn session, you probably know…it can be unpredictable. We always go in with a flexible plan, allowing space for their comfort and personality to lead the way.
But she absolutely amazed us.
She was calm, loving, and so incredibly proud of her baby brother. With spotters right beside her for safety, she held him in her lap, gently patted him, and gazed into his tiny face with the kind of tenderness that melts your heart. These are the moments that can’t be posed. They simply unfold, and they become some of the most meaningful images we create.

A Nature-Inspired Newborn Session
This session was designed with rich, earthy tones with soft browns and calming blues. Creating a look that feels deeply connected to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. As an Olympia newborn photographer, I love incorporating elements inspired by nature to create timeless, storybook imagery.
One of the most magical setups featured baby nestled inside a textured tree trunk, surrounded by lush ferns, a gentle little brook, and a softly glowing lantern. It felt like stepping into a quiet forest scene, where everything is calm, peaceful, and full of wonder.

Another favorite was a rustic wooden boat. Baby was swaddled and fast asleep, with soft twinkle lights glowing behind him. This setup had such a dreamy, cozy feel—like a quiet evening by the water.

We also created a beautifully detailed felted nest scene inspired by the Pacific Northwest itself. Surrounding baby were tiny handcrafted elements—rain clouds, pine trees, waterfalls, salmon, mushrooms—each detail adding to the story. These types of scenes are what make themed newborn photography so special. They allow your baby to be part of something imaginative, meaningful, and completely unique.

Meaningful Custom Newborn Photography
One of the things that truly lights up my heart is creating custom newborn images. Images that hold deep personal meaning for families.
For this session, we created two incredibly special composite images.
The first was a sibling image of big sister and baby together on a wooden swing, gently hanging from a tree branch. Around them, soft glowing jars lit with candles created a warm, magical atmosphere. It felt like a moment suspended in time—quiet, connected, and full of love.

The second custom image was especially meaningful.
Baby was photographed in a rustic airplane, created in honor of his grandfather who had recently passed. The plane was thoughtfully designed to reflect his grandfather’s favorite aircraft. Baby was dressed in a tiny navy blue outfit, peacefully resting as if being carried through the sky.

These are the kinds of images that go far beyond a photograph. They tell a story, hold emotion and become heirlooms.
Why Newborn Photography Matters
The newborn stage is incredibly fleeting. Those tiny fingers, soft features, and sleepy stretches change so quickly in just a matter of weeks.
As a parent, it can feel like time is moving both slowly and impossibly fast all at once.
That’s why investing in professional newborn photography in Olympia is about more than just capturing how your baby looks. It’s about preserving how this moment feels. The quiet, the connection, the overwhelming love.
Every session in my studio is designed to be calm, unhurried, and fully guided. So you can simply relax and enjoy the experience. From styling and setup to soothing and posing, I take care of every detail so you don’t have to.
