Many first time moms may not even be aware of baby acne until their baby has it all of a sudden. It can happen overnight and your baby can have just a touch of baby acne or your baby could have more than just a little bit. That is just one of the many things that you just can’t know until you experience it. So if you are thinking, “Eeeek! My newborn has baby acne, should I reschedule her photography session?” take a deep breath and relax. With a newborn photographer experienced with professional editing, you will never know that your baby had baby acne once you see the photos. It won’t look fake either. Every newborn session requires a certain level of editing while completely preserving the authenticity of your precious bundle.
But you may be wondering what you can do about baby acne. The answer is very little unfortunately. Baby acne is a totally normal occurrence that nearly every baby gets. It usually happens on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and neck. It seems to come up out of nowhere and then it disappears like it came. According to Baby Center, it’s important not to scrub at the bumps or to use oily lotions. That will only cause your baby’s pores to clog more. The best thing you can do is just be patient. It will go away in a few weeks on its own.
For now, just love on your newborn and don’t let the baby acne scare you away from your newborn session. We can edit that right out—along with jaundice, peely skin, stork bites, or purple feet– and capture your little one when she is most squishy and malleable to get her in all those cute positions that are loved in newborn pictures. It is never too early to book your newborn and maternity sessions. Newborn sessions are best if they take place when babies are 5 to 14 days old. If your baby is due this summer or fall now is the time to reserve your spot. Is your baby’s due date around the corner or is your baby already here? Contact me and let me see if I can get you in!
