We are often asked how old a newborn should be for his or her very first photo session. The answer is not very old at all, just a few days, somewhere between 5 and 14 days is best. Your little one is getting bigger every single day and after about the two week mark, they don’t want to curl up in those squishy poses anymore and some babies will start to get a little bit of baby acne or become a little colicky as they get older. Even the newest baby has an opinion about what the pose they like and the poses they don’t really care for. For instance, some sweeties love to be swaddled up and some want to stretch out and will have nothing to do with being swaddled. I take my cues from your baby, although they are tiny and very new to this planet, they can tell me lots of things and I listen! Your baby’s comfort and happiness are my top priorities and it does not take me long to discover what makes them content and cozy we will tailor each and every pose to what makes them happy.
It is best to reserve your baby’s newborn photography session during your 7th to 8th month, or about 6 to 8 weeks in advance of your due date. When we book your session, we will pin down a date for your newborn session and then we can move that date if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected so that we can keep your session within that 5 to 14 day window of time. What if your baby is already here or will be here any day and you are looking for a session? Please contact us and let us see if we can get you in. Sometimes a spot will open up if we had an early bird or a baby that is fashionably late lol!
June 2015 is completely booked, but we have a few spots left for July, August, September and beyond. If you are expecting reserve your session early to insure that your baby has a spot. Call or text us 360.438.0432 to reserve your session.
