I’ve learned so many tricks during my career as a Lacey WA first birthday photographer. Tricks just like the one we used for baby Hudson’s cake smash session! The key to getting this little guy full of energy and ready for the camera was to sing patty cake, patty cake! This birthday boy positively loved it and you’ll be able to tell by the big bright smiles I managed to capture from him during his photoshoot!

I got to meet sweet little Hudson when he was just a newborn and now he is turning one. I can hardly believe it! The first year, filled with all of its wonderful milestones, truly goes by so quickly. But it’s an absolute joy of mine to get to see these sweet little babies grow, right before my eyes!

Joyful baby Hudson looked so darling all dressed up in his traditional Hanbok. In Korean culture, part of the first birthday celebration for the birthday girl, or in this case, the birthday boy, is to dress up in a Hanbok to mark the occasion. Of course, with such beautiful clothing, we made sure to capture his portraits before we brought out the cake!

The cake smash portion of a first birthday photoshoot is all about the essence of a child’s vivid imagination along with a taste of their very first cake! Is there any better way to celebrate your birthday? Probably not! For Hudson’s cake smash setup, his family chose an outdoorsy PNW fishing theme. Complete with a (felt) campfire and everything needed to catch your first big fish on the Puget Sound. Hudson caught three little fondant “fish” that were swimming against the current on the icing of his birthday cake. He cast reel and came up with a great big handful of bright blue birthday cake!
