As a Lacey WA children’s photographer, I talk so much about watching littles grow. But most of all, what a joy it is for me to capture those precious moments for their families. I thought it would be fun to take it a step further and provide you with that exact view from my lens!
Royce is a big boy now! But when I first laid eyes on this blue-eyed sweetheart he was a newborn. The next time he came to visit, he was standing on his own and celebrating his first birthday with a cake smash photoshoot. For the session featured below, he was well on his way to becoming an active toddler!
It’s been amazing to see his little personality develop! For this session, when he came to visit, he was trying so hard to be serious. But, much like his first birthday shoot, I gave him a balloon, and his sweet smile and joyful character erupted immediately. After all, at 18 months, he’s now working on becoming a curious, adventurous toddler!
All too often, I feel the focus on children’s photography, can lean heavily on the newborn stage and that all-to-wonderful first birthday cake smash. But there are so many other moments in a baby’s first two years that are worthy of photographing! Like when they start sitting up all on their own. Or you turn around one day to find they’ve pulled themself up to standing. Those cherished moments from 6-month-old baby belly to grinning 9-month-old with wobbly legs are so wonderful, but oh so fleeting. So give yourself full permission to celebrate each tender moment. Whether that’s with a celebratory photoshoot or extra cuddles. And if you want to take after Royce, a fun balloon might even do the trick!
As a Lacey WA children’s photographer, I love celebrating every milestone of baby’s first year!
