This cake smash photo session is all courtesy of one very special birthday. Sweet little Nolan has officially completed his first trip around the sun. Nolan’s two older siblings are both Fairies & Frogs alumni. Making him the third in his family to come to celebrate his very first birthday in the best way possible. In fact, Nolan’s first trip around the sun was so much more than that! His doting mama bought Nolan the teeniest little space suit and made his cake smash photo session a trip to outer space!

That’s the amazing thing about celebrating your first birthday with cake smash photos, the only limit is your imagination. Transforming into the world’s first baby astronaut was what we had planned for Nolan. But, each and every family that I work with is different and has their own unique vision. For some, it’s about transforming into storybook characters. For others, inspiration can come from the most commonplace elements, like beautiful flowers, rainbows, or even the landscape of the PNW. I know what a big milestone it is to celebrate your sweet baby’s first birthday. So I leave the choice in your hands. You have full creative control over what you’d like to imagine is possible for your baby. And believe me, in the over two decades that I’ve enjoyed celebrating a baby’s very first taste of cake, never once has there been anything unachievable!

Cake Smash Photo Session

Along with the vibrant inventive setups that come along with a cake smash photo session, I always included two other staples. The first is a classic photography experience. These photos give your baby a chance to get used to the idea of having fun in front of the camera. But, they also allow you to bring in that special birthday outfit you had in mind for your baby. You know, the one you don’t want completely covered in cake and frosting by the end of the session! Classic photos provide variety from your child’s photo experience and they give you something special to hang on the walls of your home; side by side with the cake smash photos. 

To finish the cake smash photo session, I also offer the birthday boy or girl a fun tot-sized tub filled with rubber duckies & ‘bubbles’. I have to admit, when it came time for Nolan’s rubber ducky fun, we all cracked up! This adorable little boy sat back in the bath, with rubbery ducky in hand and put his feet up on the edge of the tub. It was by far one of the cutest moments of his session. You’ll get to see that moment, his big beautiful birthday smile, and how much he enjoyed the frosting on his cake, in the photos below.
