Say a great big hello and welcome to sweet little baby Emmet! This adorable little guy, along with his big brother, came into the studio for his newborn photo shoot. I so often say that my job as a newborn & family photographer is being privy to watching families grow. I get a front-row seat to their tender moments. Whether it’s a Mom celebrating her pregnancy, the arrival of a newborn, or a first birthday baby who gets to try cake for the first time.
This sweet family is no exception. Emmet’s big brother came to me as a newborn and again when he celebrated his first trip around the sun. Now, he’s back in his new supporting role as a big brother to little Emmet. I got to see the joy on his face go from yay it’s my birthday, to look at my sweet baby brother. And those cherished moments are what make my heart soar!
Big brother is now officially two and that sweet little soul of his shined through every photo with Emmet. His face was filled with the biggest most heart-warming smiles, and he was practically a pro in front of the camera! I’d like to think that his presence is what led to the gorgeous image below of both boys smiling. The heart of a child is filled with the love from those that nurture them as they grow, and Emmet and his big brother are in for an imaginative childhood filled with adventures and playtime.

Before baby Emmet came in for his shoot, his parents had a fun idea in mind for a photo. They wanted me to capture both of the boys surrounded by countless little cars. But, when session day arrived, they accidentally left the cars at home. I know things happen, and I especially know they happen when you’ve got two littles (and two diaper bags!) in tow. I was determined to create this image for them. So, instead, I turned it into an original, custom photo. I curated scenery that leaned on the idea from Mom & Dad. You’ll get to see it in the photos featured below!
I loved how the parents came up with this idea of siblings playing together with such simplistic but imaginative toys. So, we expanded on it, just a bit. From motor cars to the skies, I also created an image of sweet baby Emmet surrounded by vintage airplanes, ready to take flight! Our last foray into imagination photos for baby Emmet’s newborn photo shoot was a trip to the woodland forest. I dressed Emmet in a tiny little knit raccoon outfit, and it was an absolute hoot. Although, Emmet didn’t seem to mind at all. He just sweetly slumbered away, completely unaware of the acorns falling from the trees as his furry forest friends played off in the distance.
