As an Auburn WA Children’s photographer, moments like these are what it’s all about! This sweet little brother and sister duo are celebrating Halloween early. Their letters arrived and they were officially accepted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. Sweet little baby sister is a tiny mandrake plant, and her older brother was sorted into Gryffindor house! Together, these adorable siblings attended Professor Sprout’s class in the greenhouse for a lesson in Herbology. I love it when parents come to me with creative ideas that embody fun while allowing their children’s imaginations to soar. When Mom told me she wanted to plan a Harry Potter-themed photo with both of her littles in their costumes, I nearly jumped up and down with excitement

I always highly encourage the use of costumes. After all, how fun is it to throw on a cape or a robe and pretend to be a superhero or a storybook character? However, I do not provide costumes to my clients. But my clients are absolutely welcome (encouraged even!) to bring in whatever they have in mind for their session. From there, I work with them in a collaborative way to create an inspired custom background. One that fits and fulfills the vision they have in mind for their children’s photoshoot. For this tiny brother-sister duo, it was a visit to Hogwarts. But, for others, it might be a trip to an enchanted forest, a boat ride down the lake to watch the lanterns fly overhead, or anything else that can be dreamed up for an adventure filled with whimsy & adventure!

This sweet family chose me to be their Auburn WA children’s photographer for one very big reason, aside from the Hogwarts acceptance letters. Little sister is officially sitting up, all on her very own! In children’s photography, we call this a milestone session. The photo shoot is centered around a big beautiful milestone recently reached and we celebrate every moment of it with unforgettable photos.

Aside from their visit to Hogwarts, I worked with little sister on some classic portraits to showcase her moment. For this portion of the shoot, I pulled out my tot-sized chair and a soft and comfortable fluffy throw. I really wanted to hone in on this sweet girl happily sitting up, all on her own. Luckily for me, she came ready with the most adorable smile, and stars in her eyes. Her loving mama brought along the loveliest little dress for the occasion too. Of course, she also had a dainty bow headband to match the ensemble. You can see every moment of this fun imaginative milestone session when you scroll through the photos below!
